While hiking in the parks, mountains, and gardens of the Pacific Northwest I discovered photography. In addition to traditional photography, I transform some of my photographs into unique works of art using my computer. My photo paintings are rich and layered images celebrating the diversity of the natural world. I alter them to create a mystery and extend an invitation to the viewer to finish the path or complete the picture in their mind. Some are reminiscent of an impressionist style with an "old world" feel; and on the flip side, some are abstract with bright primary colors.
If you happen to visit The Allison Inn in Newberg, Oregon – the heart of the Oregon wine country – you may see a few of my photo paintings in the guest rooms. Many of my garden photos are featured in two books: “Back in the Garden with Dulcy” and “Through the Seasons with Dulcy,” which are a tribute to Dulcy Mahar, a much loved Portland gardener.
Also, my photography and photo paintings have been licensed as greeting cards. My photography and photo paintings translate beautifully into greeting cards, calendars, magnets, journals, posters, and a myriad of other stationery and giftware products.
